We are hosting a series of supper clubs celebrating a centuries-old tradition from Anatolia. Once a month our Turquazz Meyhane will feature different Anatolian chefs who will pair their specialty cuisines with Raki and traditional wines from Anatolia.
A night in Meyhane is generally known to stretch into the late hours as müdavims (guests) find themselves occupied in joyful dialogues as the he combination of Raki, mezzes and the convivial atmosphere of a Meyhane invites effortless conversation. Although the time conscious world of today favours eating rather than drinking, the First Sip retains, as always, its traditional importance.
Raki is served in two glasses and normal etiquette is to take one sip from each glass in a quick succession. The euphoria of meeting and greeting friends dissolves into a short silence followed by raising ones glass to good health. The First Sip is habitually observed in a temporary silence that soothes the soul and signals the beginning of a memorable evening.
