Music & cinema gurus come together to dive into the avant-garde life of the extraordinary Ilhan Mimaroglu.
Can Oktemer: Welcome to Turquazz Cinema Talks. Today, we are going to talk about a special movie and an equally special subject. Our topics are Serdar Kökçeoğlu’s Mimaroğlu documentary and İlhan Mimaroğlu himself. I would like to introduce our guests: Serdar Kökçeoglu, the director of the film; Armağan Ekici, essayist, writer, and translator, who also took part in the film; Batu Akyol, documentarist and the director of the documentary “Jazz in Turkey”. We are going to have a discussion for the next two hours about the film and a slice of İlhan Mimaroğlu’s life. Of course, when it comes to İlhan Mimaroğlu, we will have the opportunity to entertain different perspectives. Without deviating too much, we will try to have a conversation about Ilhan Mimaroğlu’s musical journey, his personality and his relationship with Ms Güngör.
